Rare podiums: Bitche writes Masters history

The entire Cat-Moto team took the ADAC Youngster Cup podium in Bitche.

The Cat-Moto team took the entire ADAC Youngster Cup podium in Bitche.

It took over two decades before the ADAC MX Masters made its first stop in neighboring France. From a sporting perspective, the visit to Bitche provided the stage for a feat rarely achieved in the series' long history: a complete team podium in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup and an all-national podium in the ADAC Junior Cup 85.

Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna dominates the Youngster Cup

The  Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna Team made headlines. Liam Owens opened the race on Saturday with a holeshot and his first race win of the season. On Sunday, Kevin Greutmann took the lead, initially winning the duel with teammate Mads Fredsoe and then following up with a commanding lights-to-flag victory in the third race. In the event standings, the result was: Greutmann ahead of Fredsoe and Owens – a podium entirely from a team that is rare in the ADAC MX Masters.

"Everything just came together this weekend – and having our team boss there makes the result even more special," Greutmann explained, beaming. Fredsoe was also satisfied: "I didn't have an outstanding weekend, but I had a very solid one. Having the Red Plate in my hands now is a fantastic reward."

teammate Liam Owens summed it up with a broad grin: "Back on the podium! There's no better way to do that than by sharing it with my teammates."

A comparable "triple triumph" was last achieved in 2023 in Randers, when the WZ Racing Team completed the podium. Here, teammates Oriol Oliver, Cato Nickel, and Mike Gwerder held off the entire Youngster Cup elite.

Estonian youth school sets an exclamation mark

There were also special moments in ADAC Junior Cup 85: Only Estonian drivers were on the podium. This underscored the country, which has a population of only 1,4 million, once again its strong youth development. To top it all off, Lucas Leok with three more race wins the early championship title.

"Winning the title feels good, and the pressure is off now. I had three good starts and races. Sealing the title with a lights-to-flag victory is fantastic. I'm very happy," Leok rejoiced.

A weekend for the history books

Team podiums and pure national podiums are the exception at the ADAC MX Masters – in Bitche, both were achieved on the same weekend. This makes the trip to France a special chapter in the more than 20-year history of the ADAC MX Masters.
